Garland Technology Partners with Big Switch Networks to deliver 100G Monitoring for Data Center Visibility and Security
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) December 10, 2015 -- Garland Technology, the world’s leading network TAP (test access points) manufacturer, is pleased to announce a partnership with Big Switch Networks®, the leader in open SDN fabrics, to enable high performance network visibility and security. The joint solution leverages Garland’s 10G, 40G and 100G network access technology and Big Switch’s Big Monitoring Fabric™ for high-performance data centers and mobile data networks. With the joint solution, the two companies are enabling operationally simple, highly scalable, and cost-effective monitoring for all network traffic.
Garland and Big Switch will host a joint webinar on Wednesday, December 16th at 10am PT. To register please visit http://bit.ly/21PqdkG
Modern data centers are expanding at a rapid pace resulting in exponential growth in bandwidth and traffic, which has pushed up the demand for high-bandwidth monitoring infrastructure to 10G and 40G links and now extending to 100G. The need for 100G is increasingly being driven by the demand for data bandwidth in mobile and telco services, government and research agencies. Simultaneously, sophisticated cyber attacks have created the urgency for pervasive security monitoring in the data center for complete visibility and protection of application and data traffic.
The joint solution has been deployed with Fortune 500 customers spanning multiple verticals – financial, hi-tech and retail – for monitoring and securing production traffic. With the scale-out architecture, simplified operations and economics, the solution is rapidly becoming popular for multiple use cases, including pervasive data center security, east-west data center traffic monitoring (monitor every rack), monitoring every location in an enterprise, and 4G/LTE traffic visibility for service providers.
“Big Switch Networks is at the forefront of SDN fabrics, pioneering TAP-sharing and network fabrics for optimized automation and visibility,” said Chris Bihary, CEO and Co-Founder of Garland Technology. “As the foundation for the next-gen monitoring solution, Garland network TAPs ensure all the data – every bit, byte, and packet – feeds the Big Monitoring Fabric.”
By deploying the joint solution from Big Switch and Garland, customers can quickly scale the monitoring infrastructure compared to expensive, box-by-box solutions from legacy network packet brokers (NPBs). In addition, the multi-tenant monitoring solution allows multiple operations teams (e.g. network, security, applications) to fully monitor and analyze network traffic with a single set of network TAPs feeding the Big Monitoring Fabric connected to a centralized toolfarm.
“We are partnering with Garland to deliver fully interoperable 10G, 40G, and now 100G monitoring solutions for high-performance data center visibility and security,” said Prashant Gandhi, Vice President of Products and Strategy at Big Switch Networks. “With dramatic reduction in CapEx as well as tremendous Opex savings due to SDN and open networking switches, we offer service providers, large enterprises and government organizations a real choice for pervasive visibility and monitoring versus proprietary legacy solutions.”
