Garmin VIRB Elite Films Two First-Ever Ski Records In One Day With HRWC
Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- Garmin VIRB Elite filmed two first-ever events skiing the Little Couloir at Big Sky with Rusty Squire of the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"The Big Couloir is roughly 65 degrees at the top, which is super dangerous, and there are years on end where it is never skiable," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, "Disabled skier Kraig Kempt has a lower leg amputation and I couldn't believe he got down this, I mean just watch the video, this run is absolutely hairball."
"No question Kraig is the first-ever disabled skier to descend the Little Couloir and I'm pretty confident that, at three months shy of my 56th birthday, I am the oldest skier to ever ski it," says Squire. He adds, "I went to Church the next day on Easter Sunday and thanked the Lord for watching over us because this truly is that exposed and dangerous, just watch the video."
Documentation
"We used the Garmin fenix 2 GPS watch to track the run and then the Garmin VIRB Elite action camera to film it," says Squire. He adds, "This is what I do, test stuff in real life situations across a large universe of sports from extreme skiing, to snorkeling in Hawaii, to mountain biking in Montana and I've done this kind of testing my whole life."
"Lots of people say they do stuff but there is nothing like film footage and a GPS watch to prove that you actually did something," says Squire. He adds, "The two together are the ultimate adventure recording system and what I really like is how you can share this with others in the modern era."
Kraig Kempt - Showing What Disability Really Means
"I have known Kraig Kempt for over 30 years and I am so proud of him and how he has been a real leader in showing that disability really doesn't have to end your life," says Squire. He adds, "I was President of the non-profit Eagle Mount over a decade ago and they live by the same philosophy that you still have ability."
