Gartner Names Splice Machine a 2014 “Cool Vendor”
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- Splice Machine, provider of the only Hadoop RDBMS (relational database management system), today announced it has been named one of four “Cool Vendors” in the Cool Vendors in DBMS 2014 report by Gartner, the world's leading information technology research and advisory company.
Each year, Gartner identifies new “Cool Vendors” in key technology areas and publishes a series of research reports highlighting these pioneering vendors and their products and services. Gartner’s DBMS 2014 report – written by Nick Heudecker, Research Director, and Merv Adrian, Research Vice President – introduces information technology managers to companies innovating in the DBMS space. Splice Machine was included, along with Neo Technology, Sqrrl, and Tokutek.
The Splice Machine Hadoop RDBMS enables companies to replace traditional RDBMSs that are becoming costly or difficult to scale. It is a full-featured, transactional SQL database on Hadoop that provides the horizontal scalability of Hadoop and NoSQL offerings, but with the functionality and capabilities of a general purpose RDBMS.
