Gary D. Halbert Announces Acquisition of Theta Investment Research, LLC
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Gary D. Halbert has announced the acquisition of certain assets of Theta Investment Research of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, one of the oldest and most respected databases of active money managers in the industry. The new firm, Theta Research, LLC (Theta), will be based in Austin, Texas as are Halbert’s other interests, namely Halbert Wealth Management, ProFutures, Inc. and his Forecasts & Trends E-Letter.
Since 2000, Theta has been a respected source of actual performance information for active money managers. Offering subscriptions via the Internet, Theta publishes information on managers and their models on both a daily and monthly basis, allowing for the analysis of style, risk and performance.
For investment managers, Theta’s database will provide third-party verification of the manager’s actual performance as well as a way to showcase this performance via the Theta website. For subscribers, Theta will offer objective, third-party performance information for a wide variety of active money managers based on the actual returns in a traded account.
Halbert noted how pleased he was to be able to acquire Theta’s performance tracking software, saying, “Theta has been an important source of actual performance information for us since its inception and we are pleased to be able to continue offering this valuable resource to investors and active money managers.”
Theta’s previous owner, Paul Montgomery, decided to sell his tracking service in order to focus on other business activities. Montgomery commented, “I cannot be more pleased about selling Theta to Gary, as I know it will be in good hands.”
Today, Theta is recognized as an innovator in the alternative investment management community and provides services to institutions and individual investors who are looking for money managers to help meet their investment objectives. All actual performance information offered on the Theta database is provided by a third party custodian, brokerage firm or mutual fund platform.
