Gay or Not? Xulon Book Follows One Man’s Journey to Freedom
Troutdale, OR (PRWEB) July 31, 2015 -- Within the pages of his new book, Gay...or Not? One Christian Man’s Journey, ($14.99, paperback, 9781498436243; $7.99, e-book, 9781498436250) seventy-year-old Jerry tells his life story-how he struggled against unwanted same-sex attraction through college, Army, seminary, and early marriage. With the help of God and of his ever-forgiving wife, Rosie, he eventually found sexual freedom and fulfillment in his marriage and in his career as a chaplain. Not only has Jerry been freed from homosexuality, but he’s also been freed to experience an ever-deepening intimacy with the God who rescued him.
“The way to freedom from unwanted same-sex attraction is by pursuing a deepening intimacy with Jesus Christ, resulting in gradual and significant transformation of one’s whole life,” states the author. “Among the many LGBT-themed books available, this one is the rare first-person story of a man who successfully overcame unwanted same-sex attraction and enjoys a growing and fulfilling forty-year marriage.”
Jerry Heacock earned his B.A. in German from the University of Oregon, and his M.Div. (pastoral emphasis) from Western Seminary, Portland, OR. He served four years active duty in the Army. He has worked in a broad variety of jobs, including summer farm work in Texas, insurance sales with various major companies, delivering mail, selling cars, working at Costco, and finally as a self-employed chaplain in a variety of care facilities for more than twenty years. He loves playing the piano, getting to know new people, reading, traveling, writing, running, and most of all striving to grow in his relationship with God, so that he may be better equipped to serve others. He lives in Sandy, OR, with Rosie, his wife of forty years. Gay…or Not? is his first book.
