Gayco Healthcare Selects TCGRx Pharmacy Workflow Solutions and Gains Unparalleled Efficiencies
Powers Lake, WI (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- Gayco Healthcare has selected the Chudy Group’s (TCGRx) state-of-the-art pharmacy workflow solutions, realizing unparalleled efficiencies throughout the implementation process. TCG supports the prescription fulfillment needs of Gayco’s 48 long-term care facilities throughout Georgia. According to Jon Martin, Director of Business Development for Gayco, “TCGRx set the standard as we evaluated competitive offerings,” speaking about the 35-day selection process that spanned 5,000 miles and included site visits to four solution providers.
Over the past year, Gayco has implemented the TCG adherence packaging system in their skilled nursing and assisted care facilities. The solutions are part of the TCG Automated Tablet Packaging (ATP) Series and include the ATP system with SmartTray™, the InspectRx™ pill inspection system with collation unit, and the BullsEye® tablet splitter.
The closed-loop system provides Gayco with cutting cutting-edge technology not found in competitive systems, providing them with unprecedented levels of safety, accuracy and efficiency. SmartTray uses proprietary fill-to-light technology to dramatically improve the speed and accuracy of filling formulary medications. InspectRx conducts an electronic 12-point imaging analysis of medication pouches, at a rate of up to 60 pouches per minute, ensuring the right pill is in the right pouch for the right patient. The BullsEye tablet splitter provides automated splitting accuracy of up to 16 pills per minute. “The sophistication of the ATP system has enabled us to do more with less, while delivering care to our residents in the safest, most cost- effective, and efficient manner possible,” said Bent Gay, Owner/President of Gayco Healthcare.
TCG is committed to remaining at the forefront of technology to design pharmacy automation systems that best optimize workflow. “We pride ourselves on the development and delivery of innovative pharmacy workflow solutions, that are patient-focused and results-oriented,” said Duane Chudy, President/CEO of TCGRx. “Through the use of technology that facilitates shorter medication cycles, the ATP series allows our pharmacy partners to control labor costs while using personnel more effectively to grow and retain their business.”
Through its implementation of this system, Gayco has shortened the dispensing cycle of Medicare part A medications for increased efficiency and cost savings. “Oral solid doses are a labor intensive effort from the standpoint of the technician’s time,” said Martin, “and we simply were not able to reduce the medication cycle with our former blister card system. The ATP system enables us to achieve shorter cycles by using electronically dispensed, inspected, and verified multi-dose pouches, which reduces nursing time on the cart. It makes for a fabulous system for the residents, nurses, our pharmacy and the facilities we serve.”
According to Martin, “TCGRx is a partner who fully supports the system. They have been by our side throughout the entire implementation process. We’ve gone from soliciting our facilities to implement the change to receiving weekly calls on adopting the ATP system. Gayco has built our business by making the day-to-day work of a nurse better. The nurses are excited about the change and our nurse consultants are sharing the story of Gayco’s success.” In a rapidly changing healthcare environment, “We’ve found TCGRx to be a forward-thinking, visionary company who remains one to two steps ahead of the competition in addressing the issues that are the most important to us.”
