GCG Promotes Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
Lake Success, NY (PRWEB) June 15, 2015 -- LAKE SUCCESS, NY (June 15, 2015) – Garden City Group, LLC (GCG), a leading provider of legal administration services, offers dynamic diversity and inclusion awareness programs to its employees, including educational programs designed to promote inclusion and company-wide conversations about the importance of diversity, cultural awareness, mentorship and community involvement with diversity and inclusion thought leaders.
“While GCG’s commitment to diversity has played a long-standing and integral role in our organization, I am thrilled about the influx of energy and excitement our recent events have created,” said Shandarese Garr, GCG’s vice president of Diversity & Inclusion. “By raising the awareness of our commitment to diversity and inclusion among our managers, supervisors, staff, and vendors, our organization is stronger than ever, and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of that effort.”
This spring, GCG employees were presented with opportunities to engage in conversations regarding the impact of mentoring and the importance of community outreach. In the first presentation, National Basketball Association All Star and Olympic gold medalist Vincent “Vin” Baker shared his life story in which he described how he overcame adversity by giving back to the less fortunate through mentoring. GCG employees further were invited to an inspirational discussion with Edvige Jean-Francois, senior producer for CNN International’s Special Projects unit. Jean-Francois reports on business, cultural, and social developments in Africa, and played a leading role in CNN’s coverage of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti.
GCG also launched a monthly Diversity & Inclusion Calendar and engages in regular company-wide communications to provide employees with the chance to learn about the diverse groups and cultures represented within the company. In recent months, the company has provided information, interviews, and materials promoting National Mentoring Month, national Black History Month, national Women’s History Month, Irish-American Heritage Month, diversity and the judiciary, Jewish American Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, national LGBT History Month, and Title IX and women in sports, among other topics.
“The success of our company hinges upon our ability to apply the highest standards of excellence and integrity in every matter we handle,” said Neil Zola, GCG’s President. “The diverse thoughts, ideas, opinions and backgrounds of our team are what drive the best results for our clients.”
