GE, ARM and IBM voted most influential IoT companies | FC Business Intelligence
USA (PRWEB) February 19, 2015 -- Industry ide survey uncovers the most powerful companies, people and innovators in the Internet of Things
A recently commissioned industry survey from business intelligence provider IoT Nexus has uncovered that GE, ARM and IBM are the most powerful companies operating in the Internet of Things market.
The survey, completed by hundreds of companies working within IoT today, from massive multinationals to SMEs and Start-Ups, was undertaken to discover which companies are considered the most powerful and the most innovative in the industry. Following the survey, IoT Nexus got the chance to sit down with three top executives to get their thoughts on the state of the market.
Thinking on how to succeed in IoT, John Magee, General Electric’s CMO believes that part of their success as a power player in the market lies in a very centralized approach to investment and R&D.
“That way everyone can take advantage of innovation and we leverage the best of our domain expertise, coupled with what we understand about the physical world, through the latest software and IoT technologies” claims Magee.
ARM’s Director of Emerging Technologies, Gary Atkinson believes that as a power player, ARM’s IoT products, can serve not only the market, but the fate of the planet. “I subscribe to the idea that IoT can have a significant impact on humanity and our future and the sooner we get this infrastructure deployed, the better off we’ll be” claims Atkinson using the example of finding sustainable protein sources for an ever growing planet, Atkinson suggests that “if we can gather more data points from agriculture, measuring water quality, monitoring the nutrient levels in coastal waters for shellfish beds, which are a good and scalable source of protein for humanity.”
Hearing who the market believes to be truly driving the industry forward is invaluable as the Internet of Things finds its feet beyond the hype stage. With huge pushes being made by all players to put themselves centre stage in the market, what really matters is the perception of those working day to day on the challenges of a connected world.
