General Keith B. Alexander, Former National Security Agency Director, Offers Guidance to Tomorrow’s Leaders at the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF)
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- The National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): National Security – Diplomacy, Intelligence & Defense, an Envision program, is honored to announce that the former director of the National Security Agency (NSA), four-star Army General Keith B. Alexander, USA (Ret.), will present the keynote address at the Forum this spring.
“General Alexander’s unparalleled experience in national security adds an element to our program that would be extremely hard to quantify – or to duplicate,” said Andrew Potter, chief academic officer of Envision, “The General represents an opportunity for the student attendees to gain unique insight and inspiration, as they move on into roles as guardians of our country.”
NYLF National Security is a six-day Envision program developed for high school students interested in careers in intelligence, diplomacy and defense. Three sessions of the program will take place in Washington, D.C. in March, 2015
NYLF National Security enhances academic and leadership skills for students across the nation, who gather to:
•Hear from nationally-recognized leaders like General Alexander, as well as other civilian policy makers and senior military officers responsible for globally-significant intelligence and security strategies
•Examine the U.S. national security infrastructure through customized site visits in and around our nation’s capital
•Test their judgment in the face of a true-to-life national security crisis during role-play simulations
•Interact with top college and employment recruiters at the exclusive NYLF career fair, exploring the opportunities available in America’s diplomatic, intelligence and national defense fields
As the keynote speaker, General Alexander, a visionary commended for his steadfast leadership, will share his personal career journey, providing leadership advice and career guidance to NYLF National Security students.
A four-star Army general and the highest-ranked military official of U.S. Cyber Command, the National Security Agency and the Central Security Service, General Keith B. Alexander has played a pivotal role in securing our safety at home and abroad for the past decade.
General Alexander is widely considered to be one of today’s most strategic thinkers in both the intelligence and cyberspace arenas. When the perils of cyber war reached critical mass in 2010 and the vulnerability of an increasingly networked world became apparent, General Alexander was inaugurated under President Barack Obama and Defense Secretary Robert Gates as the first commander of USCYBERCOM, an organization that centralizes command of cyberspace operations and synchronizes defense of U.S. military networks.
