Georgia Tech Professor Launches Zyrobotics - New Start Up Company Bringing Technology-Based Solutions to People with Motor Limitations
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) April 22, 2014 -- Dr. Ayanna Howard has a heart for people with motor limitations, particularly children with disabilities. So when a National Science Foundation grant led to development of an input device that would allow kids with disabilities to operate tablet computers, she wanted to commercialize the technology to get it into the hands of the children. Dr. Howard founded Zyrobotics to commercialize this device, and a suite of innovative products, to help disabled children do what all kids want to do: play video games and interact with computers.

Zyrobotics was founded in 2013 by Ayanna Howard, a well-known American roboticist and the Motorola Foundation Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. She is also the founder of the Human-Automation Systems (HumAnS) Laboratory. Previously, Dr. Howard was at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, where she led research efforts on various robotic projects utilizing vision, fuzzy logic, and neural network methodologies. She was named to the MIT Technology Review TR100 as one of the top 100 innovators in the world under the age of 35. Dr. Howard received worldwide attention for her SnoMote robots, designed to study the impact of global warming on the Antarctic ice shelves. Her participation in the National Science Foundation I-Corps program led to the founding of Zyrobotics.
