Get Fit & Get Social in Play Big Apple: a Brand New Social League for Adults in NYC
New York City, NY (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- Half active. Half social. That’s the not-so-secret formula behind Play Big Apple social sports league.
Play Big Apple is a locally operated social sports league that's out to revolutionize the way New York City newcomers and natives meet, socialize and have fun.
Each Play Big Apple league consists of once a week league games, post-game parties and specials at local bars, socializing with other league members and lots of fun.
Play Big Apple is designed and operated so that anyone, of any athletic and physical ability can play and enjoy themselves while meeting new people.
“We are league player ourselves, we’ve played in leagues that were great and others that weren’t as fun” said founder Giovanni Marcantoni. “When everyone is able to participate no matter their skill, that’s when people are the most social and have the most fun.”
Registration for all leagues can be found on Play Big Apple’s website, http://www.playbigapple.com and costs $50-150 per person depending on the league.
Each league registration includes: eight weeks of league play, t-shirts, end of season free beer parties, weekly bar specials, prizes for league champions and other league member perks.
This spring Play Big Apple will offer kickball, bocce, soccer, Skeeball, softball, basketball, volleyball and dodgeball in multiple locations across New York City and Brooklyn. Registration is open to anyone age 21 and older who is just looking to have a good time and met some new people.
Play Big Apple got its start as a couple of guys from Baltimore, MD wanting to bring the fun they had in Washington D.C. playing in Kickball and Bocce leagues with them to New York City.
“We played in a number of different sport leagues while going to school and working in D.C., but our heart has always been in New York and we decided we’d try our hand running leagues back,” said Marcantoni.
Play Big Apple began as the NYC Skeeball league gathering people together for weekly games of Skeeball and socializing. The league quickly became popular and when the summer months rolled around people wanted to do something outside.
So Play Big Apple took the action outside and started the New York Bocce League. Players gathered for eight weeks of bocce action, socializing, after parties, dancing and weekly fun.
Over the past year NYC Skeeball and New York Bocce leagues has had 4,000 participants and grown from one location to eight locations and multiple leagues in Brooklyn.
“We have had so much success with our bocce and Skeeball leagues, we decided it’s time to grow the business again and start offering more sports and league options,” said Marcantoni
Registration for the spring season is now open and is done all online at http://www.playbigapple.com and closes April 14th with spring leagues starting the week of April 21st.
