As I sit here at the computer it is difficult for me to write about my life, but I understand that many people I have come in contact with were raised in similar atmospheres. "The things I share are from my heart and are how I felt growing up. I grew up with chaos every day, many disappointments, hurts, pain from a very strict upbringing, alcohol in the home, fighting, guns while drinking, fear, and experiencing physical abuse. As a result of my past, trust was an issue with me. Over the thirty-six years I have walked with the Lord, I realized many people were con-tending with trust in their lives. This is the reason I had to write my book: to be an instrument of God in leading people toward a healing path. This is comforting and brings stability for me knowing that God never leaves or forsakes us. This is trust, the real trust in the Lord with all your heart, mind, body, and soul. Through the years, I have learned to speak Proverbs 3:6: “Lean not on your own under-standing, but in all your ways acknowledges Him and He will direct my path.” God says in His word to be strong and courageous and don’t be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God will always be with you, never leaving or forsaking you.
"In writing this I hope to be a witness of how people can help others understand that we depend on Christ and no one else. God instructs us to come unto Him for all those who are heavy laden and He will give us rest. We can have all the fruits of the Spirit: peace, joy, love, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The first step is acceptance of who we are in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
"God will take away all your fears. God will help us break through our past history and make us a new creation to put us back together for His glory and His kingdom. God will begin to break the strongholds we have in our lives. We may have to be put through the fire to burn off the ropes we have put there. But remember, from the fire to victory, you come out of the fire with your hands freed and praising God. Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? Jesus was in the fire with them and they walked away without even a scratch (Daniel 3:24–26).
