Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast Second Annual Fundraiser Fork It Over to Benefit Camp Arnaz Program Center on September 15th, 2016
Ventura, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2016 -- Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast (GSCCC) is hosting the Second Annual Fork It Over fundraiser on Thursday, September 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Palm Garden Hotel in Thousand Oaks. Tickets are $60 per person with proceeds benefiting the modernization of GSCCC’s Camp Arnaz Program Center on the outskirts of Ventura, toward Ojai.
Notable chefs from popular local restaurants will be creating Girl Scout cookie-inspired appetizers and desserts in imaginative sweet and savory cookie and food pairings. The event will also feature a variety of spirit purveyors from across California’s Central Coast, including local breweries, wineries and vineyards.
The fundraiser benefits GSCCC’s Camp Arnaz Program Center, a one-of-a-kind camp located on a 36-acre property. Dedicated in the early 1980’s, tens of thousands of Girl Scouts have enjoyed the benefits of a camp experience at Camp Arnaz, learning self-reliance, enjoying nature, and making lifelong friends. Surrounded by native oak trees, sycamores and wildlife, this unique location gives girls a camp community for years to come.
Fork It Over ticket sales will help upgrade Camp Arnaz facilities including the lodge, cabins, buildings, and several rain/shine picnic shelters. Funds will also add new programs with features such as low ropes courses and additional environment and science activities for Girl Scouts to enjoy.
“For almost 35 years, the Lodge and property of Camp Arnaz has given campers a very special venue in which to learn, grow, relax and celebrate,” said Gina Jaeger, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of California’s Central Coast. “Now there’s an opportunity to give back through an evening of fabulous food and wine with our Fork It Over fundraiser, a fun evening benefiting a beloved landmark in our community!”
The evening’s finale will feature a cookie culinary competition featuring recipes from renowned chefs from popular local California restaurants, caterers, and even food trucks. A panel of judges will select the best creations and guests can vote on their favorite entry for the “People’s Choice” award as well as enjoy a silent auction.
