GiveToBenefit Partners with Philadelphia Orchard Project and Tiny Terra Ferma to Maintain 34 Urban Orchards
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- On the heels of a successful 2012 fundraising campaign that raised $1,000 for equipment to grow food in urban environments, GiveToBenefit, Inc., a start-up social enterprise based in Penn Valley, PA, has partnered with the Philadelphia Orchard Project (POP), a non-profit whose mission is to grow healthy food, build green spaces, and ensure community food security, and Tiny Terra Ferma, an ecological landscape design studio and garden supply shop in Manayunk, PA, to raise an additional $2,500 for new materials and equipment that will help maintain 34 orchards around Philadelphia.
To date, donors have pledged $1,100 for the project, thanks to a successful fundraiser, “Fruit Pies for POP: A fundraiser to benefit the Philadelphia Orchard Project,” which was held on July 18 in the Tiny Terra Ferma garden in Manayunk. GiveToBenefit hopes to raise the balance of $1,400 by the end of September.
“Think of GiveToBenefit as a crowdfunding marketplace,” says Daniel M. Sossaman, II, chief executive officer of GiveToBenefit. “We make it easier for socially minded individuals who are interested in the growth of the communities around them to learn about cause-minded merchants like Tiny Terra Ferma and to support worthy non-profits like the Philadelphia Orchard Project.”
