GJEL Accident Attorneys Partners with Local Bike Shops to Support Bike Safety
Orinda, CA (PRWEB) September 27, 2013 -- GJEL Accident Attorneys is partnering with a select number of Bay Area bike shops to promote bike safety by giving away a complimentary helmet with every kid’s bike sold. The promotion kicked off over Labor Day weekend and will continue throughout the entire month of September.
“We wanted to do something to promote bike safety,” said GJEL partner Andy Gillin. “And with school starting back up it seemed like an appropriate time to remind kids about the importance of always wearing a helmet when they ride.”
As the final week of the promotion closes in, GJEL expects to hand out anywhere from 100 to 150 helmets, and is partnering with some of the top bike retailers in the area to make this promotion as accessible as possible.
Stores participating in the helmet giveaway include, Bay Area Bike, Alameda Bicycle, Street Level Cycles, and Eden Bicycles.
Because bike safety—especially among younger riders—is such an important issue, each participating retailer will be including a free helmet with the purchase of any children’s bike, or bike sold to someone under the age of 18.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “helmet use reduces head injuries by 80 percent.” Additionally, federal data suggests that approximately 70 percent of all bike fatalities involve riders who weren’t wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. As a result, it’s imperative that children are counseled on helmet safety before hopping on a bike.
“It is our sincere hope,” said Gillin, “that by including a helmet with each kid’s bike sold, we can help highlight the fact that wearing a helmet is one of the easiest things you can do to protect yourself when riding a bike.”
The promotion will conclude on Monday, September 30th.
