Glendale, CA Named Safest Mid-sized City in America

Published on the Movoto blog, the study looked at 100 cities across the U.S. with populations between 100,000 and 200,000 people. Glendale, CA was declared the safest mid-sized city in the country after analyzing a year's worth of violent and property crime data, including murder, rape, assault, robbery, burglary, theft, and vehicle theft. “Knowing which cities offer the safest environment to live and raise a family is becoming increasingly important,” said Randy Nelson, lead writer on the report. “Based on our findings, not only is Glendale very safe, but Southern California in general has a wealth of mid-sized cities with low crime.”
In addition to comparing the number of crimes in each city per 100,000 residents annually, the study took into consideration the odds of being the victim of violent or property crime within their borders. The least safe cities were found to be Jackson, MS, Springfield, MO, New Haven, CT, Dayton, OH, and Little Rock, AR.
