Global Traveler Announces Second Annual Leisure Travel Awards
Yardley, PA (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- Global Traveler, the only monthly magazine for business and leisure luxury travelers, announces the winners of its second annual Leisure Travel Awards. The winners will be feted at a cocktail reception this evening on the rooftop of the Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica, Calif. A ballot ran online May–December 2013; the readers of Global Traveler voted for the winners. The magazine’s readers average three international and six domestic leisure trips per year.
The awards were officially announced in Global Traveler’s second annual Leisure Lifestyle Book, available now. The issue also includes articles on island holidays, family tours, milestone trips, kid-friendly airports, vintage vacations, photography, driving tours and cruise ship suites.
The following winners are being honored for the second consecutive year: Hong Kong (Best Shopping); Australia (Best Natural Attractions); South Africa (Best Safari Destination); Silversea Cruises (Best Small Ship Cruise Line); Abercrombie & Kent (Best Luxury Tour Operator); Kaua’i (Best Island in the United States and Canada); Bora Bora (Best Island in Australia and the South Pacific) and Bali (Best Island in Asia and Africa).
For the first time, Global Traveler’s editors named three Special Achievement Awards. For their Force for Global Good, Delta Air Lines was recognized for Outstanding Social Awareness. Hyatt Hotels & Resorts’ initiatives in working with female travelers earned them the Outstanding Customized Services recognition. The Outstanding Environmental Initiatives honor went to InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa for the resort’s unique seawater air-conditioning system.
