Chris Obinzu, CEO of God and Christ Care, understands the plight faced by Haven for Hope’s members as he has faced similar troubles. Soon after the 2008 recession, Obinzu became homeless shortly after losing his private label company in the fashion industry. His experiences as a homeless man in New York City led him to discover the lack of accessible health care for underserved populations. While Obinzu found shelter and help, he realized that not everyone would have his advantages and luck. He sought to change that. God and Christ Cares, the Obinzus’ community outreach program, helps the Obinzus to continually give back to the community whether through public speaking or community building. Partnering with Haven for Hope is another way they choose to give back. The Obinzus believe that, “our gain is knowing that the health and wellness of our patients is greatly impacted by the services we provide.”
God and Christ Care seeks to offset the lack of affordable, accessible health care by helping seniors, people coping with injuries, and through their partnership with Haven for Hope. Whether the assistance takes place in the home or on Haven for Hope’s campus, God and Christ Care provides superior care to their clients through their God and Christ plans. The God plan includes nursing care and speech, occupational, and physical therapies. The Christ plan involves personal care, such as bathing, meal preparation, and light housekeeping. God and Christ Care hires only licensed and highly skilled nurses, therapists, and caregivers to provide high quality health care.
God and Christ Care began during the Obinzu’s search for quality in-home care for their parents. Unable to find it, they created their own agency, which operates under the premise of treating patients as if they were family. The Obinzus chose to focus on their beliefs and values when they began their agency, God and Christ Care.

The Obinzus gave God and Christ Care the focus of what they call, “caring for life.” In “caring for life,” the client leads the push for a better life through the pursuit of future goals.
