Golden Meadows Retrievers Offers Fully Trained Golden Retrievers As Christmas Gifts
Moorpark, California (PRWEB) December 18, 2013 -- According to industry statistics, more than 50% of all puppies adopted from shelters as Christmas gifts end up being euthanized due to behavioral issues. For this reason, experts recommend fully trained puppies as gifts, instead. With this in mind, Golden Meadows Retrievers spokesperson Nikki Asher says they are now offering Christmas golden retriever puppies as gift ideas.
Says Asher, "We begin training puppies as young as 4 weeks old. The initial training is to respond to a whistle, a hand clap or a snap. At six weeks, we start working the puppies on a more individual basis. Starting to teach them to walk on a leash, beginning their obedience training, with sit, stay and down. We also begin crate training at this time by feeding the pups in individual crates. We strongly believe that crate training is the easiest and most natural way to house train a puppy."
By giving a fully trained puppies as gifts, Asher believes new pet owners can avoid many of the traps unsuspecting new pet owners find themselves in. Asher continues, saying, "Our goal in training is to create a good canine citizen, one that can become an excellent addition to your home, your family and your life for many years to come."
Many owners, Asher says, plan to enroll their pets in an obedience class later on, after the pet gets acclimated to their new homes, but often times, this is too late. "Trained golden retrievers make the perfect gifts for children because of their sweet disposition and because they come already disciplined. By 8 to 12 weeks old, the pups have learned both verbal and visual cues for sit, stay, down and high 5. They are also well on their way to learning how to wait at the door, walking nicely on a leash and not to chew, bite, bark or dig. This is especially helpful for new pet owners who might easily become frustrated with a new dog who displayed these types of behaviors early on in the relationship."
"The highest level training includes off leash obedience, specific service needs and other fun tricks depending on the dogs abilities. Some have completed their championship titles, some would make excellent service or therapy companions, but most have earned their Canine Good Citizenship." He concludes, saying, "Dogs are priced based on their training level proficiency. We have found many of our clients would like a younger pup that they can finish training themselves, while others want a fully trained dog they can welcome into their household."
