NEW YORK and HOUSTON (PRWEB) March 06, 2018 -- Golden Seeds, an early-stage investment firm dedicated to pursuing market returns through funding women-led businesses, today announced the opening of a chapter in Houston, Texas. In partnership with the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce (GHWCC), Golden Seeds' new chapter is its second in Texas and represents an opportunity for both women-led companies and angel investors in the region who want to become involved in this sector.
Texas is second only to California in the number of women-owned firms among all 50 states. In terms of economic clout - number of companies, employment and revenue - Texas' women-owned businesses tie for first in the nation. Building upon the success of its Dallas chapter, Golden Seeds is expanding to meet the needs of Houston's women-led companies, which have recently grown in number at more than twice the national average. The new chapter will host monthly Office Hours for women entrepreneurs, beginning with its first event on March 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., when participants can learn about funding options and meet investors. Office Hours will be hosted at the offices of the GHWCC.
Suzan Deison, CEO, president and founder of the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce said, "We researched partnership opportunities to bolster funding options for the many high-potential, women-led companies in Houston, and Golden Seeds was the clear choice. They have the experience, reputation and scale Houston's women entrepreneurs need to propel their businesses to the next level."
The members of Golden Seeds' Houston chapter will become part of a nationwide network of more than 275 angel investors in 21 states, who collectively meet 1,000 companies every year. Welcoming both women and men as members, Golden Seeds offers angel investors the opportunity to participate on due diligence teams; invest in promising startups; attend trainings, national forum meetings and syndication calls; and join meetings in any of the organization's chapters throughout the U.S., including New York, Boston, Silicon Valley, Atlanta, Dallas and now Houston.
"Our Dallas chapter has been a great success since its founding in 2011, and our expansion into Houston is a natural next step as we explore ways to meet more women-led companies in Texas, which clearly offers many vibrant opportunities," said Loretta McCarthy, managing partner of Golden Seeds. "Our partnership with the Greater Houston Women's Chamber provides valuable support and leadership for this initiative, and we look forward to working with their team."
