Goldring Gulf Distributing Company Contributes $3.19 Million to Step Up For Students, Encourages Panhandle Families to Apply for Next School Year
Pensacola, FL (PRWEB) February 18, 2014 -- Goldring Gulf Distributing Company, a beverage distributor based in the Florida Panhandle, announced today it is donating $3.19 million to Step Up For Students, whose mission is to provide educational options for low-income Florida schoolchildren.
This is Goldring’s first donation to the nonprofit organization that administers the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which is funded from corporate tax redirections in exchange for dollar-for-dollar tax credits. The company’s donation will fund approximately 600 scholarships for children in grades kindergarten through 12th grade, so they can attend the school that best meets their learning needs.
“Goldring Gulf Distributing is thrilled to help approximately 600 Florida students through our participation in this program and we are proud that, through our support, more Florida children will find success in their educational experience,” said Mike Johnson, Managing Director and General Manager of Goldring Gulf Distributing. “Our company is committed to supporting and improving the local community, and we are passionate about spreading the word to more families who may be able to benefit from this opportunity.”
There are approximately 1,150 students in Bay, Okaloosa and Escambia Counties who benefit from a Step Up For Students scholarship, 34 schools in the area that participate in the scholarship program, and nearly 60,000 students benefitting statewide.
“Each year, Step Up For Students is able to provide more scholarships for Florida children, which for most of our families, means hope for their children’s future,” said Doug Tuthill, Step Up For Students president. “Without help from our partners like Goldring Gulf Distributing, the growth of the program would not be possible.”
