Good Karma Bikes Volunteer Receives Junior League of San Jose Crystal Bowl Award
San Jose, California (PRWEB) May 15, 2015 -- Good Karma Bikes volunteer, Arye Green, was recognized by the Junior League of San Jose with their prestigious Crystal Bowl Award at their annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on April 25, 2015.
Green has been a volunteer with Good Karma Bikes for over three years. During that time he has mentored individuals of all ages on how to repair and maintain bicycles. He is also responsible for the construction and layout of Good Karma Bikes’ full-service bicycle shop and sales floor.
“Arye is an amazing individual and valued volunteer. We are so proud that his time and effort have been recognized by the Junior League of San Jose with their Crystal Bowl Award. In addition to his practical hands on skills, Arye is always willing to provide encouragement to other volunteers and program participants,” said James T. Gardner, CEO and Founder of Good Karma Bikes.
“The Junior League of San Jose’s mission is promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community,” said Lynsey Georgiades, the 46th Volunteer Recognition Luncheon Chair. “We are pleased to honor Arye Green for his significant volunteer contributions to Good Karma Bikes and other non-profit organizations within our community.”
Good Karma Bikes is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing safe, reliable bicycle transportation to those in need. The organization offers many volunteer opportunities to support their programs. One of these programs include their Transportation for Transformation program, which gives emancipated foster youth the chance to learn marketable job skills by operating the Good Karma Bikes’ full-service bike shop.
Good Karma Bikes’ has a newly created Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) program. The TAY program targets emancipated foster youths for training and mentoring in the trade of bicycle mechanics to create future opportunities, promote work ethic, and prevent future homelessness in this critical population.
