Gotcha Bike Launches Holy Spokes, Nation’s Newest Bike Share, In One of Its Most Historic Cities
Charleston, S.C. (PRWEB) June 01, 2017 -- Charleston residents and visitors now have access to 250 of the nation’s smartest bikes at 27 corrals strategically placed throughout the peninsula. The service is expected to inspire healthy exercise and relieve some of the city’s parking and traffic pressures.

Today’s ceremony at the MUSC Urban Farm featured remarks by Mayor John Tecklenburg, and a ribbon cutting in which scores of bikes fanned out to dedicated corrals around town.
The 250 locally assembled Holy Spokes bikes are the nation’s smartest, thanks to Gotcha Bike partner, Social Bicycles, and its proprietary GPS technology that allows users to locate and activate the bikes through a smartphone or computer.
The integrated technology and flashing safety lights are powered through a built-in solar panel and dynamo hub, giving riders real-time data from each bike ride, such as calories burned, CO2 emissions reduced and money saved versus driving.
Since 2015, riders in the 22 Gotcha Bike programs across the U.S. have biked off more than 4 million calories, reduced CO2 emissions by more than 88,000 pounds (3,520 gallons of gas), and saved more than $58,000 spent on car maintenance, gas and repairs.
Pricing plans for locals, visitors and students allow customers to pay as they go, or secure monthly and annual memberships. Each plan includes an allotment of daily free ride time; bikes are available 24/7.

● Annual Membership: $69/year with one hour of free ride time daily
