Governor Deal Issues Business Cybersecurity Proclamation at TAG Event
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) February 27, 2014 -- In recognition of the vital importance of cybersecurity in Georgia, and the economic impact on all businesses that operate in the state, Governor Deal has signed a proclamation declaring February 25th as "Business Cybersecurity Day in Georgia” to build cooperation and government-enterprise partnership and prepare Georgia businesses to react quickly and with a minimum of damage to the inevitable cyber challenges that lie ahead.”

The proclamation will be officially presented to the Info Security Society of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) at the 2014 Cybersecurity Simulation. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 25th at the Clay National Guard Center (CNGC) in Marietta, Ga.
More than 200 executives, law enforcement and other cyber security professionals will be guests of The Adjutant General of the Georgia National Guard, General James Butterworth at the CNGC, headquarters of the Georgia National Guard. Located near Dobbins Air Reserve Base, CNGC is also the home of the 201st Regional Support Group (RSG) and the Joint Operations Center (JOC). These units foster dialogue between regional first responders and other agencies, and play an important role at the regional level, helping develop and build regional disaster relief and response plans and cybersecurity alerts and responses, in conjunction with southeastern emergency managers, such as the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA).
The Cybersecurity Simulation event is an all-day, open business continuity simulation: a role playing event where C-Level executives, senior management and security practitioners come together and spontaneously react to carefully planned business-impacting cyber and physical attacks and try and get their fictional organization back up and running.
This year's simulation centers on the fictional The Logistics Company (TLC), which will be the target of seven attacks including (5) cyber attacks, (1) physical attack and (1) social engineering attack. Observers will see the anatomy of seven attacks and the business, technical and legal response of the fictional TLC Dream Team as they apply their best practices to repel the attacks with minimum disruption to their global business and experience realistic cyber attack scenarios and interact with the role players without the risk associated with an actual event. Even though TLC is a logistics company there are lessons to be learned by all business sectors.
The 2014 Cybersecurity Simulation is conducted following the guidelines of the DHS Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (DHS HSEEP). The DHS HSEEP structure is followed in the construction of the simulation, DHS HSEEP observers watch and judge the Simulation and prepare the After Action Report following the Simulation which provides lessons learned, including recommendations for improvement of subsequent Simulations.
