GPSTrackIt.com Co-Sponsors Golf Tourny Benefiting Landscape Architecture Scholarships
Temecula, CA (PRWEB) June 19, 2015 -- On Monday, June 15th, over 170 golfers teed off under clear skies and a perfect 70 degree temperature at the Newport Beach Country Club to benefit the CLASS fund, a non-profit providing scholarships to students and funding for college programs in landscape architecture, horticulture, and landscape irrigation services. The tournament, sponsored by the California Landscape and Irrigation Council, GPSTrackIt.com and other contractors and suppliers across the region, generates scholarship funds for students in landscape architecture and industry-related fields of study.
“The California Landscape Architecture Student Scholarship Fund was founded in 1980 with the sole purpose of developing programs and events to support educational advancement,” said CLASS Executive Director Vicki Phillipy. “The CLASS Fund also receives and administers gifts and bequests and assists educational and scientific research projects.”
This year, the CLASS fund awarded $31,500 in scholarships to students in landscape architectural and horticulture/irrigation programs at Cal Poly Pomona and San Luis Obispo, the Universities of California at Davis, Berkeley, and Los Angeles, and at the University of Southern California.
“It’s a great way to give back to the industry that has been so good to us all,” said Marty McPhee, Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing with Park West Landscape Construction. “Investing in future employees being educated in the specifics of our field is money well spent.”

Tournament winners were presented with trophies at a dinner sponsored by Park West and Valleycrest Landscape Development and held in the clubhouse.
