Grand Opening: La La Eatery on Tuesday, January 7, 2014; Goji Pho & Natural Italian Gelato Come to Bellingham
Bellingham, WA 98225 (PRWEB) January 04, 2014 -- La La Eatery, a new 68-seat Vietnamese-inspired restaurant serving French and Asian cuisine, announces its Grand Opening on January 7, 2014. “La La,” as it has come to be known by its pho fans, is located at 2430 James Street, two doors down from Trader Joe’s, and is open Monday-Saturday, 11:30am-8pm.
La La is a hip, fresh, and healthy take on traditional Asian cuisine. It offers a stylish yet casual setting with communal tables and classic movies projected on a wall. Its menu features a unique combination of culinary influences from Taiwan, Vietnam, and France. Featured is La La’s signature Goji Pho ($10.95), a nourishing bowl of Vietnamese rice noodle soup, with broth simmered for hours, loaded with goji berry antioxidants, and topped with an abundance of fresh vegetables.
On the sweet side, La La offers freshly-brewed jasmine green and barley black bubble tea, a popular drink originating in Taiwan, with tapioca pearls cooked just right to give a soft chewy texture. In addition, guests can enjoy authentic Italian D’Ambrosio Gelato, made in Ballard with local ingredients from a Lynden dairy farm, to complete their multicultural gustatory journey. After all, La La’s motto is “We only serve what we love.”
La La’s menu is rounded out by an extensive offering of gluten-free rice noodle bowls, rice plates, fresh spring rolls and low carb quiches. Its Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwich is the best in town, a fluffy, yet crisp French baguette stuffed with pickles, daikon, onions, jalapeno, cilantro and various protein options in special sauces ($7.95). The Lemongrass Chicken ($10.95) is a perfect balance of flavors, while vegetarians can delight in seasonal vegetables and tofu bathed in lemongrass and coconut milk curry, accompanied by a bed of multigrain rice ($10.95).
La La is a sister restaurant to La Patisserie (3098 Northwest Avenue), established as the first Vietnamese Bistro in Bellingham 28 years ago. Both are managed by a close team of professionals with diverse backgrounds and roots in Taiwan, Toronto and Victoria. Together they share a vision of serving simple, nourishing food as fuel and medicine for the body, mind and soul. Owner Joyce Cheng is devoted to food and philanthropy and holds two master degrees, one in Integrated Marketing from Northwestern University in Chicago, and co-owner Joe Lin is an ER doctor drawing from his training in Alabama to bring a grassroots approach to health management. Manager Sunshine Hsu is a dedicated nutritionist and alternative medicine practitioner, and Spokesperson Tracy Hsu, through her work as the President of Child’s Mental Organization in Toronto, brings non-profit, environmental, and social issue experience to the table.
To reduce its environmental footprint, La La has initiated a container deposit program that allows customers to bring back and reuse takeout containers. La La will also soon begin sourcing its produce locally and asks all interested farmers to contact Manager Sunshine Hsu directly (360) 223-7014.
