Grand Opening of Planet Aid Donation Center on Aquidneck Island
Milford, MA (PRWEB) May 13, 2015 -- Planet Aid is announcing the May 30 grand opening of its new donation and recycling facility at 7 West Main Road, Middletown, Rhode Island. The nonprofit is inviting the community to stop by from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new center to meet staff, learn more about its services and mission, and enjoy some barbecue.
The new facility will accept clothing, shoes, and accessories as well as blankets, towels, curtains, sheets, and bedspreads. It will provide 24/7 drop-off service for Aquidneck Island as well as the surrounding communities of Bristol, Jamestown, Narragansett, North Kingstown, and Tiverton. Residential curbside pick-up of textiles will also be scheduled, and those interested in pick-ups are asked to contact Planet Aid at the email or phone provided.
“We look forward to having our friends and neighbors stop by and visit,” said Keith Gregory, Planet Aid’s Operations Manager for the Southern New England area. “We are excited to be opening this new facility, which will serve as a key hub that will make it easier for the community to donate and recycle their unwanted textiles.”
Since 1997, Planet Aid has collected more than 1 billion pounds of textiles nationwide, which it has sold to domestic and international used clothing processors and vendors. The net proceeds from the sale of the clothing fund development projects to improve conditions of the poorest of the poor in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
