(PRWEB) August 05, 2014 -- On July 25th, a campaign was started to grant the wish of Frank Shankwitz, a founder and the first CEO of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation.
The spark for this campaign started when Greg Reid, during an interview with Frank, asked a simple question.
Greg asked, "Frank, after granting so many children's wishes, what is your wish?"
Frank paused for a moment, and then quietly replied, "I would like to have my story told in a way that I could share it with my grandkids, so they could see that through our efforts, we made the world a little bit brighter."
In response, we’ve been inspired to tell Frank’s story as a feature film entitled Wish Man. And as a global community, we are raising funds to share his story with as many people as possible.
The goal of this Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign is to raise enough funds to create a world-class motion picture, to be released in theaters in 2015.
The script covers the life of Frank Shankwitz, and is focused on the founding of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation. It follows the development of this movement from the intimate experiences of Frank, his family, and the community that rallied to grant the very first wish.
Frank, along with his wife Kitty and several others, founded the Make-A-Wish® foundation in November, 1980. Despite holding numerous positions within the Make-A-Wish® Foundation, Frank never took a salary from the organization. He insisted to support himself on his salary as an Arizona Highway Patrol officer.
Make-A-Wish® is now one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world, has fulfilled 100,000’s of wishes (and is granting an average of one wish every 38 minutes).
The feature film, Wish Man, will help share Frank’s belief that “Everyone Can Be a Hero.” It’s this unifying belief that underlies the Make-A-Wish® Foundation, and undergirds the movie to be produced in 2014 and released in 2015.
