Grape Wins “Best of Fest” at Alexandria Film Festival

The movie Grape filmed by Rushaway Pictures, LLC at Mount Welby and Linden Vineyards won “Best of Fest” at the Alexandria Film Festival November 10th beating out over 60 foreign-language films, shorts, documentaries and feature-length productions chosen from more than 200 submissions from around the world.

One of the most beautiful things about Grape is how it features Mount Welby and Linden Vineyards as characters in this short film.
GRAPE, directed by Daniel Stine, is a 29-minute fantasy-drama is set against the backdrop of the Virginia wine country and features veteran actor Linden Ashby of Mortal Combat fame. The movie takes place on a Virginia vineyard where a grieving winemaker ponders the sale of his family vineyard, receives an unwelcome overnight visitor on a bleak, wintry afternoon. He soon discovers that Tyler, the drunken, disheveled young man who stumbled into his tasting room faces life-altering decisions of his own, and over the course of an awkward evening, the two forge a tenuous common bond. When Grayson retires to bed, Tyler is left alone to wander the house and nearby winery. He soon encounters a host of a very different sort and is transported into a hauntingly beautiful midnight journey that will give him a glimpse into the past history of Delecourt Vineyards and a hint of what fate holds in store for him and the once-proud Virginia estate.

Released in August of this year, Grape has already been selected for 11 festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival. Rushaway is currently working to produce two feature films--a psychological thriller entitled Mannin Bay and the yet-to-be titled full-length feature version of Grape, showcasing the Virginia wine industry and the surrounding countryside.

About Daniel Stine
Daniel Stine is the writer/director of three short films, which cumulatively have won nearly 30 awards at film festivals around the country. As an actor, he has appeared in each of his films as well as a number of other independent productions. Daniel is a graduate of Oakton High School and earned a film degree in 2008 from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. He currently lives in Los Angeles.

Linden Vineyards is a 4,000-case winery and vineyard situated in the Virginia Blue Ridge, 65 miles west of Washington, D.C. Three vineyards supply all the grapes used to make Linden wines: Hardscrabble, the estate vineyard, 18 acres surrounding the winery; Boisseau, 4 acres, 7 miles west of Linden, and Avenius, 5 acres, less than one mile north of Linden Vineyards.
