Great Sky Solar Hopes to Raise Awareness of Solar Energy Benefits Through New Online Campaign

The online fundraising campaign is being launched through Indiegogo, a global fundraising site that helps artists, activists and startups collect donations from supporters around the world. While donations can come from friends and family members, Great Sky Solar will be able to amplify its reach to solar energy supporters on a much larger scale by taking its fundraising efforts to the web. Through their campaign, the solar co-op is hoping to share the benefits of purchasing solar panels with a much larger audience.

We don't just sign people up for solar panels, we give people all the information they need to make the best decision for themselves," said Katherine Fisher, Chief Business Development Officer and co-founder of Great Sky Solar.
She is also hoping that the new campaign will allow the company to hire additional employees. Since their opening in 2013, Great Sky Solar has completed six solar energy installation projects throughout the Boston area and has another six lined up. Business has picked up, and having a larger team will allow the company to continue providing a high level of customer service as well as take on more installation projects.
To supplement the fundraising campaign, Great Sky Solar is also planning to launch an online video mid-January. The video describes the company's history and helps customers understand what they do and why they do it. The company hopes to shed light on the dangers of relying on fossil fuels and show why solar energy is the environmentally and economically responsible choice to take their place.
“I’m hoping that those who watch the video will not only want to help us financially, but will also want to help local businesses develop innovations for a brighter, environmentally-friendly future,” Fisher said.
