Green Roof Manufacturer’s CEO Advocates International Green Building Standards at White House PEC Meeting
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) June 12, 2015 -- On June 10th, Andrew Liveres, CEO of Dow Chemical Company and Vanessa Keitges, CEO of Columbia Green Technologies, both members of the President’s Export Council (PEC), presented a letter advocating for the adoption of international green building standards. They recommended that the U.S. Government engage more proactively in promoting the adoption of green building standards with key trading partners and especially with developing economies.
Forty percent of global energy consumption is expended in operating buildings. As countries seek ways to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy intensity, new, progressive building performance standards can help lead the way to more energy efficient, greener buildings and provide a viable export market for U.S.-based companies that offer global solutions.
“Our country’s green building industry is on the forefront in developing green building design, technology and manufacturing, including the green roof technology manufactured by Columbia Green. Slow adoption rates on global building performance standards often puts us at a disadvantage for exporting this technology. We recommend that the government take action to improve our environment worldwide and create job-growth in the United States,” said Vanessa Keitges.
