Green Sunday Homeostasis: Get Cannabinoids in Medical School ~ Publius on the Bryan William Brickner Blog
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 30, 2014 -- “Many cannabinoid highlights this Green Sunday,” opened Bryan W. Brickner, “and one disheartening lowlight: the lack of cannabinoid science in US medical schools.”
In Green Sunday Homeostasis: Get Cannabinoids in Medical School ~ Publius on the Bryan William Brickner Blog, the future of cannabinoid science is highlighted in new National Institutes of Health (PubMed) research. The post focuses on three articles discussing: skin homeostasis and cannabinoid lipids, cancer (gliomas) angiogenesis with radiotherapy and CBD/THC, and cannabinoids for neuropathic pain.
“Concerning our skin,” offered Brickner, part of Publius and publisher of The Cannabis Papers (2011), “both endogenous and exogenous cannabinoids regulate numerous (basic) sensory, homeostatic, and inflammatory events.”
“With cancer and gliomas,” Brickner continued, “the new science shows that cannabinoids can prime glioma cells to respond better to radiotherapy; it suggests a potential benefit for glioma patients by using THC and CBD with radiation treatments.”
“Pain homeostasis,” explained Brickner, “and the endocannabinoid system have been well studied over the last several years; today’s review demonstrates a significant interface between pain, one’s CS and homeostasis.”
“The lowlight,” closed Brickner, “is a 2014 survey showing a near lack of CS science in US medical schools. This hurts us all – not only their education: it hurts our health.”
Brickner has a 1997 political science doctorate from Purdue University and is the author of several political theory books, to include Article the first of the Bill of Rights (2006) and The Book of the Is (2013); he also writes political fiction, such as the novella thereafter (2013). The Bryan William Brickner Blog is an ongoing resource for the political science of constitutions and the biological science of receptors.
The Cannabis Papers is available at online retailers and for free by download.
