Caplan focuses on the organization of private equity funds and the representation of fund investors in private equity funds. She advises sponsors of a diverse range of funds, including real estate, buyout, infrastructure, energy, and mezzanine funds, and has extensive experience representing first-time funds.

Caplan has previously been a member of the adjunct faculties at Yale Law School and Columbia Law School where she taught courses on private equity funds. She received her J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Yale University.
