Greenberg Traurig Associate Timothy A. Kolaya’s ‘Leadership Miami’ Team Recognized with ‘Outstanding Project of the Year’ Award by Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce
MIAMI, Fla. (PRWEB) June 19, 2015 -- The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s “Leadership Miami” initiative has recognized Timothy A. Kolaya, an associate in the Litigation Practice Group at the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, and his Leadership Miami team, Miami Matters, with the “Outstanding Project of the Year” award for this year’s program. The team accepted its award at the June 4 graduation ceremony.
Kolaya’s team, a group of 15 professionals from various companies and agencies across Miami-Dade County, worked with Chapman Partnership to improve the agency’s employability programming offered to clients.
Chapman Partnership operates two Homeless Assistance Centers with 800 beds located in Miami and Homestead. Its mission is to help the homeless by providing a comprehensive support program that includes emergency housing, meals, health, dental and psychiatric care, day care, job training, job placement and assistance with securing stable housing.
Kolaya and his fellow team members developed and presented a series of workshops to the residents on essential employment skills. The workshops touched on topics such as professional image and appearance, personal finance, resume writing and interview skills, and workplace dynamics.
The team also obtained several new computers for the computer labs in Chapman Partnership’s Downtown and Homestead campuses and hosted the first ever on-site career fairs for the residents at Chapman Partnership. Additionally, Kolaya and his team established a restricted gift within Chapman Partnership that will provide residents with opportunities to obtain professional training and trade certifications, which will assist them in obtaining employment.
GMCC’s Leadership Miami is an annual program in partnership with the South Florida Progress Foundation. The program offers participants an intensive learning experience that focuses on community issues and leadership development through a planned series of lectures, seminars, small group discussions, leadership skills exercises, and most importantly, participation in a volunteer service project.
At Greenberg Traurig, Kolaya focuses his practice on commercial litigation in federal and state courts, as well as arbitration panels, with a primary focus on construction and real estate matters.
