Greenberg Traurig Co-Chairs and Presents at 2016 Patent Disputes Forum North

Joyner serving as co-chair of the conference for the sixth consecutive year. Joyner and intellectual property shareholders James J. DeCarlo and Dwayne L. Mason will also be moderating or presenting on panels.
The forum will be held at the Rosewood Hotel in Menlo Park April 14, 2016. The event caters to in-house corporate counsel, intellectual property litigators, and professionals involved in the patent space, focusing on best practices and insights pertaining to intellectual property and patent disputes.

Joyner, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, represents Fortune 500 international and domestic companies in patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, including serving as lead trial counsel. His focus includes both the enforcement of intellectual property rights against competitors and licensees as well as the defense of companies in large joint defense groups. Joyner has achieved judgments exceeding $300 million for international companies and also invalidated patents that patent monetization entities had asserted against his clients. He has been lead trial counsel in jurisdictions throughout the United States, such as the Eastern District of Texas, District of Delaware, and Northern and Central Districts of California, with respect to many technologies ranging from interactive website technologies to medical devices and from game devices to plastics. Joyner is also a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Government Law & Policy Practice where he focuses on legislation, regulations, and government agencies related to intellectual property, infrastructure, transportation, energy, water, emerging technologies, and entertainment. He serves on the leadership council of the Los Angeles CleanTech Incubator and on the boards of the Westside Music Foundation and Seven Arrows School. He is co-chair of the e4Mobility Alliance for the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation.
DeCarlo shares his time between the firm’s New York and New Jersey offices, and is a registered patent attorney and electrical engineer actively involved in virtually all aspects of intellectual property counseling. His experience includes litigating patent matters in District Courts around the country, handling matters before the PTAB, counseling clients on the strategic use and management of intellectual property assets, and drafting infringement, validity, and freedom to operate opinions. DeCarlo also counsels clients on the drafting and negotiating of complex technology agreements and directs the prosecution of patent applications in areas such as electronic commerce, cloud computing, virtual and augmented reality, streaming media, Internet search engines, search advertising, client/server systems, mobile and land based telecommunications, and computer software and hardware. In addition, his matters have covered other wide-ranging technology areas including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductors, fiber optics, cameras, manufacturing, toys, pulp and paper, steel production, electronics, and electro-mechanical devices.
Mason serves as the head of Greenberg Traurig’s Texas Intellectual Property Litigation Practice and is based in the firm’s Houston office. His practice focuses on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and technology-based commercial litigation. Mason also manages patent and trademark portfolios, and assists companies in protecting and commercializing their intellectual property.
