Greenberg Traurig Expands Securities Litigation Practice; Adds SEC Veteran Elaine C. Greenberg in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) July 19, 2016 -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues to grow its Washington, D.C. office with the addition of former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Enforcement Division Senior Officer Elaine C. Greenberg as a shareholder in the firm’s Litigation Practice.
“We are thrilled to have Elaine join us in Washington, D.C. after a long and distinguished career at the SEC. She brings a wealth of SEC enforcement experience and is one of the most knowledgeable lawyers in the country in the area of SEC regulations impacting municipalities and those who underwrite and sell municipal securities,” said Brad Kaufman, co-chair of the firm’s Securities Litigation Group.
Greenberg, who has nearly 30 years of experience, focuses her practice on securities and regulatory matters, investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation; public finance; and white collar and corporate investigations. She has represented and advised major financial institutions, underwriters, broker-dealers, issuers, municipal advisors, former public company officers, and others. Before joining the firm, Greenberg was a partner at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.
Greenberg previously served as a Senior Officer in the SEC’s Enforcement Division in dual roles. As the inaugural Chief of the Specialized Unit for Municipal Securities and Public Pensions, she built and led a nationwide unit to oversee the SEC’s enforcement efforts in the multi-trillion dollar municipal securities and public pensions marketplaces. As Associate Director of the Philadelphia Regional Office, she was responsible for overseeing the SEC’s enforcement program in the Mid-Atlantic region. Greenberg is nationally recognized for producing high-impact enforcement actions, bringing cases of first impression, and negotiating precedent-setting settlements.
“Elaine’s addition augments the ability of our office to offer a full range of services to our clients on the Hill, before the various administrative agencies, the Washington, D.C. Council, and in the courtroom,” said Laura Metcoff Klaus, co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. office.
Sanford M. Saunders, also co-managing shareholder of the office, added, “Bringing on such an expert in her field is the type of strategic move our clients have come to expect from us.”
“I am excited and proud to be joining such a distinguished and remarkable firm. Greenberg Traurig’s dynamic team of exceptionally talented professionals and its unique culture of entrepreneurship, empowerment, creativity and collaboration is the ideal platform to further expand and maximize my practice,” said Greenberg.
Greenberg earned her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law, and her B.A., magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Temple University.
