Greenberg Traurig Joins Largest-Ever U.S.-Led Trade Mission to Africa
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) September 18, 2015 -- Greenberg Traurig, LLP is one of more than 100 U.S. companies participating in the U.S. Department of Commerce-led Trade Winds—Africa trade mission and business forum taking place from Sept. 14 – Sept. 21, 2015 in eight African countries. Trade Winds—Africa is the largest-ever U.S. government-led trade mission to Africa.
“Africa presents an incredible opportunity for global U.S. companies,” said Regional Senior U.S. Commercial Officer Donald Nay, the highest-ranking commercial diplomat in Sub-Saharan Africa. “We are excited to bring these companies to the continent, connect them to promising opportunities, and get them on the right path to success.”
Trade Winds is a business forum and series of business-to-business meetings in Johannesburg, South Africa, plus seven optional trade mission stops in Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania. At each mission stop, attending companies meet directly with government leaders, market experts, and pre-vetted potential business partners in the region.
Vicky B. McPherson, shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Africa Practice, is participating in the business forum and mission stop in South Africa. McPherson is a key member of the firm’s Africa Practice, which boasts a talented group of highly-experienced attorneys with a long history of working throughout the continent, and particularly in South and Southern Africa.
“Through the longstanding partnerships our Africa team has built in Africa with the public and private sectors, and in light of our track record of complex transactions and a sustained commitment to the region, our Africa Practice is a key element of our global platform and an invaluable asset to our clients,” said Jude Kearney, Chair of the Greenberg Traurig’s Africa Practice.
“At Greenberg Traurig, we view the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting U.S. companies as a win not just for our clients, but for Africa as a whole,” added McPherson. “We are excited about joining this mission and finding inroads to success on the continent.”
Sub-Saharan Africa is a promising market for U.S. services and products, according to mission organizers. It is home to six of the 10 fastest-growing economies in the world and has a rapidly growing middle class. Trade Winds is part of the United States’ Doing Business in Africa campaign, under which the government has committed billions of dollars to development initiatives in Africa, and has facilitated billions more in U.S.-Africa business deals.
