Greenberg Traurig Miami Shareholder Juan Pablo Cappello Named by Poder Magazine as One of the Most Influential Hispanics in Science and Technology
MIAMI (PRWEB) December 26, 2013 -- Juan Pablo Cappello, a shareholder with the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, has been named by Poder magazine as one of the “Most Influential Hispanics” in science and technology.
The magazine highlighted Cappello’s success as both a noted attorney at an international law firm and a prolific startup founder and seed investor. Cappello is known for helping fund or found more than 25 tech-focused startups, including ideame, the largest crowd-funding site in Latin America. His ongoing activity in this area includes: advising OpenEnglish, an online English-language platform; founding Sauber Energy; a green energy company based in Florida; founding Urbita, a robust social network for travelers; and co-founding The Lab Miami, a shared workspace in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District for social and tech innovation.
“I am honored to be recognized by Poder magazine and look forward to continuing to do my part to support what I consider a very exciting niche: the small-to-medium business sector where Hispanics are active in innovation and entrepreneurship,” Cappello said.
He is excited about the tremendous potential today focusing on the development of entrepreneurs in the technology innovation hubs in Miami, New York, Boulder, Colorado, and Austin, Texas.
“We have a great opportunity to start creating companies that address consumers in Latin America and Hispanics in the U.S.,” Cappello said. “This will help stimulate the flow of capital from within our own communities. We must work together to create what I call a ‘tecnolatino’ – our own ecosystem of Hispanic-centric businesses focused on tech and innovation.”
At Greenberg Traurig, Juan Pablo Cappello focuses his law practice on cross-border corporate finance, private equity and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. His experience includes serving as Partner, Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretary and General Counsel of Patagon, a financial institution with retail brokerage and banking operations in Spain, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela and the United States. Earlier in his career, he was the General Counsel and Senior Vice President of SKY Latin America, a more than $1 billion joint venture of News Corp, Televisa, Globo, and Liberty Media.
Cappello is a frequent lecturer at international conferences, discussing the structuring of international business transactions and cross-border investments.
