Greenberg Traurig Participates in HNBA’s 8th Corporate Counsel Conference
Miami, FL (PRWEB) April 21, 2017 -- Angelika Hunnefeld, a shareholder in the Miami office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, and Elizabeth C. Rogers, a shareholder in the firm’s Austin office, participated as speakers during the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) 8th annual Corporate Counsel Conference, which took place at the InterContinental Miami from March 30 to April 2, 2017.
The annual Conference provides a unique setting for Corporate America and the HNBA to connect, offering opportunities for outside counsel to meet representatives from numerous Fortune 500 Companies. This year’s Conference brought together attorneys, judges, law students and executives to discuss how international issues can impact local business in Miami.
Greenberg Traurig joined Hunton & Williams in co-hosting a welcome reception held at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens to mark the launch of the Conference.
Hunnefeld took part of a panel discussion during the Conference titled, “The Changing Landscape of American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) in Latin America and the U.S. Influence: A Primer for Inside and Outside Counsel.” The panel discussed the growth of ADRs in Mexico, Brazil and Central America, as well as the factors that have negatively impacted the growth of ADRs in other parts of the region. The panel, moderated by the Honorable Cristina Pereyra-Alvarez from JAMS, also addressed how the changing political climate in the United States may impact litigation and the use of ADRs in Latin America. Other panelists included: Marco Bucaro, partner at Central Law; Juan Carlos Varela, office managing shareholder of Littler Mendelson; and Mélida Hodgson, partner at Foley Hoag.
Rogers moderated a panel discussion during the Conference titled, “Privacy and Data Security in an Increasingly Globalized World.” The panel discussed the recent legal trends in privacy and data security in Europe, including a high-level analysis of the EU cross-border transfer options for companies, as well as the pros and cons of choosing each one. In addition, the panel also addressed key legal trends in Latin America, including the protection of personal data, cybersecurity law in the region, and implications to global operations. Panelists included: Sergio Oehninger, counsel at Hunton & Williams; Diana Jimenez, senior attorney at Intel Corporation; Jenny Schaffer, attorney at UPS; and Willie Hernandez, VP & associate general counsel of Hewlett Packard Enterprises.

Hunnefeld is a Board Certified Specialist in International Law by The Florida Bar. She practices in the areas of commercial litigation, international business arbitration and compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Hunnefeld is experienced in matters involving multi-jurisdictional issues, enforcement of foreign judgments and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. She also assists clients with matters relating to issues arising under the anti-bribery and record-keeping provisions of the FCPA.
Rogers focuses her practice on data privacy and cybersecurity matters, including those related to privacy program development (governance and policy), counseling on global privacy regulations, negotiating privacy and information security controls in third party vendor contracts, cyber insurance and breach response. She is experienced in providing legal advice to executive leadership and board members about prioritizing legal risks arising from privacy and security vulnerabilities.
