Greenberg Traurig’s Kristen A. Corpion Named Winner of Legal Services of Greater Miami’s ‘Legal Eagle Closing Argument Competition’
MIAMI (PRWEB) June 20, 2014 -- Kristen A. Corpion, an Associate in the Litigation Practice at the Miami office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, was named the winner of Legal Services of Greater Miami’s third-annual “Legal Eagle Closing Argument Competition.” Corpion, the first female and the first first-year attorney to win, has been added to the competition’s “Hall of Fame” and recognized as the “Best Closer in Miami-Dade County.”
The one-day, single elimination competition hosted by the University of Miami School of Law raises money for Legal Services of Greater Miami, a nonprofit organization providing free legal services for the community. The competition is open to all attorneys younger than 40 years of age who are currently practicing in the 11th Judicial Circuit and have been admitted to The Florida Bar for fewer than seven years. Participants are judged by panels of sitting judges and private practitioners.
“The Legal Eagle competition provides a unique forum for young lawyers to refine their advocacy skill set, learn from the various ways fellow participants choose to craft their arguments, and to improve based on the feedback received from a diverse cross section of local practitioners and judges,” Corpion said. “I’m honored to represent Greenberg Traurig and to be the first female winner in this competition, which serves the important mission of providing much-needed financial support for Legal Services of Greater Miami.”
At Greenberg Traurig, Corpion focuses her practice on general litigation matters. Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of the Dade County Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section, as a Committee Chair for the Miami Dade Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, and as a volunteer member of the Florida Coordinating Committee for the National Association of Women Judges’ Informed Voters Project. Kristen also serves on the Board of the South Beach Chamber Ensemble.
Corpion received a law degree in 2013 from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law and a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in 2010 in political science and anthropology from the University of South Florida.
