Greenberg Traurig’s Meshach Rhoades Honored as 2015 Kalpana Chawla Outstanding Recent Graduate
DENVER (PRWEB) June 09, 2015 -- Meshach Y. Rhoades, an attorney with the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Denver office, has been selected to receive the University of Colorado’s 2015 Kalpana Chawla Outstanding Recent Graduate Award. The prestigious award is presented annually by the University of Colorado Boulder Alumni Association to honor alumni who have made exceptional contributions to their field within 15 years of graduating. This year’s recipients will be honored at the ceremony scheduled for Oct. 15.
“Meshach is most deserving of one of the university’s top honors,” said David G. Palmer, managing shareholder of the firm’s Denver office. “She has created a unique litigation and regulatory practice and formed a team to serve our clients, in addition to having extensive community involvement and leadership abilities that have benefited the firm and service to our clients.”
Established in 1982, the award was renamed in honor of Kalpana Chawla, who received her master’s in aerospace in 1986 and doctorate in 1988 from the University of Colorado Boulder. Chawla’s impressive career as a scientist and astronaut ended on the fateful journey aboard space shuttle Columbia in 2003.
Rhoades is of counsel in the firm’s Litigation practice, with a focus on Federal Regulatory and Adminstrative Law, counseling clients on regulatory, commercial, and telecommunications litigation, including dispute resolution, antitrust, business torts, contract, intellectual property, labor and employment, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, and other civil litigation matters. Rhoades also represents businesses in regulatory enforcement actions to ensure compliance with statutes and regulations enforced by the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission and other federal, state, and municipal regulatory agencies.
Rhoades is dedicated to the Denver community through the founding and involvement of many nonprofit organizations, including Latinas First Foundation, which recognizes Colorado’s Latina leaders’ accomplishments, and also builds a community for other women to thrive through non-traditional scholarships. Rhoades received her J.D. from University of Colorado Law School in 2004 and earned a B.A. from Regis University in 2001, while playing collegiate basketball.
