Greenberg Traurig’s Scott Grossman Sworn in as President of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. and MIAMI (PRWEB) August 28, 2015 -- Scott M. Grossman, a shareholder with the Business Reorganization and Financial Restructuring Practice of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, was sworn in as President of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida (BBASDFL) for the 2015-2016 term. The BBASDFL held an installation dinner August 27, of which Greenberg Traurig was the sponsor. Grossman has served on the board since 2010 when he was first elected as treasurer of the association.
BBASDFL is the largest voluntary association of bankruptcy professionals in the Southern District of Florida. With hundreds of members, BBASDFL organizes events to assist lawyers and judges in their work and sponsors initiatives to improve the bankruptcy system for the public.
Grossman represents distressed companies, debtors, trustees, secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, official committees, defendants in insolvency-related litigation, and purchasers of distressed assets. His wide-ranging experience includes real estate, hospitality, financial fraud, and bank holding company bankruptcy cases, as well as litigating and advising clients with respect to bankruptcy tax matters, Florida’s Constitutional homestead exemption, fraudulent transfer and preference claims, and discharge and dischargeability issues. While primarily involved in Chapter 11 reorganizations, Grossman has also advised and represented clients with respect to out-of-court workouts and restructurings, Chapter 7 liquidations, receiverships, and assignments for the benefit of creditors under state law.
