Greenberg Traurig Welcomes Trusts & Estates Group to its Chicago Office; Adds John Buttita, Jack Newlin, Debra Doyle
CHICAGO (PRWEB) January 27, 2014 -- Attorneys John J. Buttita, John W. Newlin III and Debra M. Doyle have joined the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as shareholders in its Trusts & Estates Practice in the Chicago office. Prior to joining the Greenberg Traurig, they were partners at Jenner & Block, LLP.
Buttita will chair the Chicago Trusts & Estates Practice. He concentrates his practice on tax, estate, trust and closely held business and partnership planning, focusing primarily on the needs of private investors, entrepreneurs, executives of public companies and their families nationwide. He counsels clients on a wide range of issues, including family business and investment succession issues, pre-liquidation event strategies, private foundations, and charitable gift arrangements. Buttita also counsels clients in connection with securities and investment company issues involved in the intra-family transfer of stock, options and interests in investment funds. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law, and his B.S. from DePaul University.
Newlin concentrates his practice on business, tax, and estate planning for individual investors, entrepreneurs, executives and their families. He has wide-ranging experience designing complex estate plans structured to transfer wealth to subsequent generations in a tax-efficient manner, consistent with a client’s objectives and concerns. Newlin also has considerable experience advising clients on the formation and operation of investment entities, charitable foundations, and charitable trusts. He also counsels clients in connection with estate administration, pre- and post-marital agreements, and asset protection. Newlin earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
Doyle focuses her practice on tax and business planning for entrepreneurs, senior corporate executives and their families. She has broad experience drafting complex estate plans structured to transfer wealth and closely-held business interests to younger generations using tax-advantageous methods. She also excels in planning for business succession, and has considerable experience forming and restructuring entities, negotiating premarital and postnuptial agreements, and representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries in all phases of estate administration. Doyle earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School, her B.A. and B.S. from Southern Methodist University.
