Greenopia Will Rate Your Favorite Green Business This Earth Day
Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) April 17, 2015 -- Greenopia not only locates green solutions for everyday living, but also qualifies them with its expert rating process. This Earth Day, share your favorite sustainable business in any category, using the hashtag #GreenopiaBiz.
“Over the past few years there has been huge growth in the green economy,” said Gay Kenney Browne, Founder of Greenopia. “Through this campaign we want your help to identify the most progressive green businesses that most successfully reduce their impact on the environment, and help consumers live a more sustainable, healthier lifestyle."
With over 100,000 green merchants in 30+ easy to browse categories, Greenopia is the most comprehensive online resource available to find local businesses, organizations, and service providers with a commitment to sustainability. The new website will allow users to search Greenopia's massive online database, suggest green businesses, interact with others by reviewing local green businesses, and connect directly with Greenopia's sustainability experts, all for free.
Greenopia employs strict criteria and rating systems to independently research, vet, and qualify each business it lists. No business can pay to be listed by Greenopia, and instead, every listed business must meet Greenopia’s minimum qualifying standard for its category to be a Greenopia Distinguished Business. For select categories with variable levels of sustainability performance, businesses are evaluated using a unique “Green Leaf Award” rating system, in which they earn from one to four leaves to show readers their relative performance on key measures of their eco-friendly services and products.
"Our research is conducted using life-cycle assessment principles", said Jeremy Rafter, Research Director at Greenopia. "We track impacts from material extraction, manufacturing, packaging, transportation, usage, and disposal as opposed to just one supply chain area of a business."
Founded in the Fall of 2005, Greenopia released a series of printed city guides for Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. In 2009, Greenopia launched the original version of Greenopia.com, and has since been expanding with plans for an upcoming e-book series, the re-release of its print guidebooks and a new smart phone app.
