GreenZone Hero Enlists the First Veteran-Friendly Golf Course in America
Sarasota, Fla (PRWEB) December 09, 2016 -- GreenZone Hero enlists Tatum Ridge Golf Links as the first GreenZone Hero, veteran-friendly golf course in America. Tatum Ridge Golf Links has joined forces with GreenZone Hero to honor veterans as a veteran-friendly business. In recognition of this collaboration, 28% of the GreenZone Hero enlistment fee went directly to the Adaptive Golf Association. The GreenZone Hero mission is to recognize businesses that honor our veterans and help businesses succeed.
Tatum Ridge Golf Links, located in Sarasota Florida, was named one of Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play. This Ted McAnlis-designed course attracts not only better golfers and a loyal following of senior players, but now veterans. The total population of veterans in Central and Southwest Florida is 525,000. And, the total population of veterans in Florida is 1,640,900. This is the third largest population of veterans in the nation.
The collaboration supports the philosophy to give and Tatum Ridge Golf Links chose to honor the Adaptive Golf Association. The Adaptive Golf Association is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing individuals with physical/cognitive challenges with the needed resources to learn and enjoy the game of golf while utilizing the sport in their recovery.
GreenZone Hero recognizes businesses that honor veterans in the following ways: if a business is owned or managed by a veteran, special veteran discounts, a business that hires veterans or disabled veterans, and if a business makes donations of time, money, or other resources to organizations that serve veterans.
John Krotec, founder of GreenZone Hero and veteran himself said, “I hope we can help fill up Tatum Ridge Golf Course with veterans, so they can enjoy life again. We are here to help build commerce for these businesses that do the right thing. I am honored Tatum Ridge chose the Adaptive Golf Association as it is lead by David Windsor who was recently honored with a National Patriot Award by the PGA. In a time when America is struggling with belief, we are going back to American roots and honoring our veterans who fight for our freedom and those businesses that recognize these veterans.”
The celebratory event had 40 veterans, men and women, who were able to get back on the golf course, with missing limbs, to play golf again, learn golf skills and enjoy life. Calusa Brewing Co., also a GreenZone Hero veteran-friendly brewery, was part of the celebration.
