Greg Brandes Named Dean of St. Francis School of Law
Newport Beach, Calif. (PRWEB) September 12, 2017 -- St. Francis School of Law, an online Juris Doctorate degree program, has named Gregory J. Brandes its new Dean. St. Francis, established in 2011 and registered with the California Committee of Bar Examiners, is an innovative distance learning law school based in Newport Beach, Calif.
Brandes is a legal education pioneer, who in the late 1990s helped create Concord Law School, the first online law school in the U.S., where he also served as Dean from 2012 to 2014. In 2015, he co-edited, “Distance Learning in Legal Education: Design, Delivery and Recommended Practices,” a practical guide to starting and operating distance learning law programs.
He most recently served as Dean of San Francisco Law School and Executive Dean of Law and Forensics of Alliant International University. Brandes presently serves on the Rules Advisory Committee of the California Committee of Bar Examiners, helping the State Bar craft proposed rules for accrediting distance learning law schools. Dean Brandes is a member of the Colorado, Illinois and United States Supreme Court bars.

Prior to becoming a legal educator, Brandes worked in corporate law and as a solo practitioner, as well as in business leadership roles with leading bar review companies. He has taught contracts, torts, criminal law, evidence and criminal procedure in law school, and numerous subjects in bar review. He also has lectured nationally on contract, business, privacy and employment law, among other topics.

A native of Crystal Lake, Ill. and current resident of Denver, Colo., Brandes is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law and Marycrest College of Davenport, Iowa.
