Grocery Consumer Insights Study: Threats Looming But Chains Still King
(PRWEB) June 22, 2016 -- TrendSource Trusted Insight surveyed over 3,000 consumers and found that 80% of respondents indicated they have a favorite grocery store and, more interestingly, they favored national/regional grocery stores over local stores/farmer’s markets by an emphatic factor of 9:1. Additionally, though grocers are regularly inundated with news of online’s impending dominance in the industry, only 22% of respondents had ever ordered groceries online. Within that 22%, however, Amazon Fresh leads the pack. Among respondents with online shopping experience, 64% prefer national online vendors over local stores with online ordering options, and over half of those respondents (54%) use Amazon Fresh. Though less than one-quarter of respondents had shopped online, their assembly around Amazon Fresh, enthusiasm for convenience, and willingness to try new technologies should alert grocers of an impending shift.
