Groundbreaking Summit Spurs New Life for LA Civic Leadership
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 09, 2015 -- To shape the future of Los Angeles means showing up when the movement is afoot. And it is, so don't miss it. That date is October 19, 2015. The place is LACMA. Future of Cities, a new civic initiative, will convene the meeting.
Future of Cities: Leading in LA will bring together extraordinary personalities from around Los Angeles, all of them movers and shakers in nonprofits, business, public agencies and media, for a candid dialogue about how to transform the Los Angeles region’s challenges into a vibrant, cutting-edge future.
“Los Angeles's lack of high-level collaboration across sectors, cultures, and geographies puts everyone at a disadvantage,” said Donna Bojarsky, Founder and Chair of Future of Cities. “To change our region for the better, we must have long-term civic leadership infrastructure that enables the most creative and knowledgeable people to participate in generating the broad-scale transformations LA needs to thrive.”

The launch event includes an array of extraordinary personalities representing Los Angeles’ most accomplished civic, business and philanthropic leaders in exclusive keynote conversations about the region’s future. The goal is to build the foundation for a more civically engaged Los Angeles. Scheduled panelists include musician and activist Moby; KCRW host Madeleine Brand; The Advancement Project CEO John Kim; U.S. Hispanic Media Inc. Chair of the Board Monica Lozano; Gallerist and Leimert Park Advocate Michelle Papillion; LA24 Olympic Bid Committee Chairman Casey Wasserman and many more.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a visual display of L.A. neighborhoods by Walton Isaacson with specially designed maps from the MIT Media Lab. The cross-sector discussion and program features panelists who will address some of the most pressing issues facing Los Angeles, tapping into their deep reserve of leadership experience and passion for our city, to contribute to a shared vision of change.
