Loveland, CO (PRWEB) February 13, 2015 -- Group Cares donates to life saving clean water project.
Issues caused by contaminated water kill about 5.1 million children every day around the world. To help combat those issues, Group Cares recently announced that it has donated more than $1.6 million to World Vision’s clean water projects.
Group Cares, through its partner Group publishing, rallied children all over North America through Operation Kid-to-Kid, Group’s vacation Bible school effort to encourage kids to give in order to help other kids in need. Together, enough funds were raised to provide clean water to over 300,000 school children in India. Access to clean water for drinking, wash stations, and restrooms can prevent kids from becoming ill, missing school, and contracting life threatening diseases.
“This project has been very fulfilling on two fronts: One, because access to clean water drastically improves the lives of over 300,000 children; and two, it shows the power of one child caring for another,” said Tim Gilmour, president of Group Cares.
“Giving is a huge part of what we do at Group Cares, and it’s exciting to see results that make a real difference in people’s lives,” Gilmour said. “We’re highly encouraged by what happens when churches partner with our teams to work together for something truly life-saving.”
Group Cares is a non-profit organization that has served hundreds of thousands of people worldwide since it was founded in 1977. The organization has helped to repair homes for more than 37,000 homeowners, has provided hundreds of thousands of blankets to vulnerable children in Africa, and most recently donated $2.1 million for life-saving mosquito nets.
