Growing Pains for MidSouth Pain Treatment Center
Memphis, TN (PRWEB) April 26, 2015 -- MidSouth Pain Treatment Center has announced expansion plans to grow throughout the Southeast. MidSouth Pain Treatment Center is a comprehensive pain management center including four clinic locations in Cordova, Southaven, Oxford and Jackson, two ambulatory surgery centers in Germantown and Southaven, and a CLIA-certified laboratory in the Southaven and Cordova locations.
Dr. Michael Steuer, founder of MidSouth Pain, said ”I went into medicine to help people, and when I discovered that I could make a significant difference in rehabilitating people with low back pain, neck and thoracic pain, neuropathy, cancer, and migraine, I decided that this was the career choice for me," says Dr. Steuer. "I cannot begin to explain to you the thrill I get when I see my patients get better by re-entering the work environment, by being able to do the things they couldn't do previously, and by becoming close, once again, to their friends and loved ones."
Steuer is planning locations in the Carolinas, Middle Tennessee, Atlanta, and locations further south into Mississippi. "We'd like to take the elements that have made us successful here in the MidSouth, and that have helped patients here, and bring those qualities to these new locations,” said Steuer.
MidSouth Pain's healthcare model is a hub-and-spoke system, much like Fedex's model of efficiency in transportation. "Each of our major locations is made up of a centrally located ambulatory surgery center at the hub, with feeder clinics at the periphery, acting as spokes." He has plans to add new doctors, nurses, as well as administrative and management personnel to support operations in each of these locations. The biggest challenge, says Steuer, is the ever-tightening state government regulations for pain management, which are designed to provide improved safety to the public, but which impose inherent costs upon the entire system, so they are constantly keeping abreast of these changes within this new regulatory environment.
